A Story Whale Reflection (BONUS: My Nanna’s Outrageously Easy Peanut Butter Cookies)
2024: a year of stories in review…
Happy Imminent New Year! 🥳
Wherever you may reside on this little blue planet, I hope you’re taking good care of yourself. Here’s to a hopeful year ahead!
Also, although belated, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I have been enjoying a very nice and chill break from work down here in Brisbane, Australia.
Before I get into talking about the year that has been for Story Whale, I’ll jump to the chase and share my Nanna’s peanut butter cookies recipe. The true reason anyone clicked this post!
The tattered nature gives a lost treasure map feel to it, don’t you think?
Will this recipe change your life? Unlikely (although potentially). I love it for its outrageous simplicity and, of course, because of who I learnt it from! I implore you to get your favourite family recipes down in writing. Your loved ones will thank you!
Now, back to Story Whale.
2024 has been a very active year for the stories of Story Whale.
Earlier in the year, The Beast of the Forest had its final chapter and marked the first completed serial here on the newsletter. You can find it in full here:
We then saw the conclusion of A Lost Pigeon Named Lew. I think this particular story will always hold a special place for me. Don’t tell the other stories, but it’s my favourite here on Story Whale!
And then, lastly, just a few weeks ago, there was the final chapter in the Princess Hanna series.
I can definitely see myself returning to the worlds of any of those three stories. For now though, I think it might be a good chance to write a couple of standalone bedtime story reads.
The new year also, of course, means a great opportunity to look ahead at the year to come.
For Story Whale, that means some very big announcements soon to come…
So keep your eyes peeled! 👀
Lastly, thank you to everyone who has been reading and supporting Story Whale. It means the world.
Talk soon! 🐳
A great year of stories :D looking forward for what's to come!
